- Intermediate Metal Conduit (IMC) is a lighter-weight, thinner wall alternative to rigid steel conduit. IMC is a listed threaded steel raceway of circular cross section with a coupling which can be either a standard straight-tapped conduit coupling or the integral type.

- IMC has a reduced wall thickness, when compared to RSC, and weighs about one-third less than RSC. The both sizes, outside and inside have a galvanized coating for corrosion protection. IMC is interchangeable with galvanized rigid steel conduit. Both have threads with a 3/4-inch per foot taper, use the same couplings and fittings; have the same support requirements; and are permitted to be used in the same locations.

1P’s Intermediate Conduit (IMC), when combined with Elbows, Couplings and Nipples (ECN), create an Electrical Raceway System recognized as an equipment grounding conductor which provides shielding from Electromagnetic Interference (EMI).IMC conduit is a raceway solution which allows for future wiring changes and provides excellent mechanical protection to conductors and cables.

1P’s IMC is very effective in reducing the effects of electromagnetic field levels for encased power distribution circuits, shielding computers and other sensitive electronic equipment from
the effects of electromagnetic interference.
